President Harold B. Lee taught, “The most important task of the Lord that you know is taking place in your home” (Strengthening the Home [pamphlet, 1973], p. 7).

The Importance of Families

mormon_familyAprès that Our Father has created Adam and Eve, he ordered them to have children (see Genesis 1:28). He revealed that one of the purposes of marriage is to provide mortal bodies to His spiritual children. Parents are partners of Our Father. He hopes that each child receives a spiritual body and make the experience of life on earth. When a man and a woman bring a child in the world, they help to make our Father’s great plan.

Every newborn should be welcomed into the family with great joy. Each of them is a child of God. We should take the time to enjoy our children to play with them, teach them things.

President David O. McKay said: “With all my heart, I think the best place to prepare for eternal life … is the home” ( “Blueprint for Family Living,” Improvement Era, April 1963, p. 252). At home with our families, we learn to control, we learn of sacrifice, loyalty, and the value of work. We learn to love, to share and to serve each other.

Fathers and mothers have a responsibility to talk to their children of Our Father. They should show, for example, whether they like it because they follow his commandments. Parents should teach their children to pray and to obey the commandments (see Proverbs 22:6).

Family Relations affectionate

The husbands and wives should be considerate and kind with each other. They should never do or say anything that might hurt their partners. They should also try to do everything in their power to be happy together.

Parents have a responsibility to teach their children to love one another. In the Book of Mormon, King Benjamin explains:

“And you do not suffer your children … fight and quarrel. …

“But you teach them to walk in the ways of truth and wisdom you teach them to love one another and to serve one another.” (Mosiah 4:14-15).

As a member of the family, we can help each other to have more confidence in us encouraging each other and praising the qualities of other family members. Every child should feel important. Parents should show their children that they are interested in them, they should express their love and concern. Similarly, children should also express their love for their parents. They should be obedient and try to live a life that will make their parents proud and to honor their family.
